Day 3: Cairo

Exploring Giza Plateau & Saqqara

Following a lavish breakfast on the terrace of Mena House, with its unparalleled view of the Giza Plateau, we will walk the way of the Ancients under the shadows of the 3 Giza pyramids, Khufu, Khafre & Menkaure, relish in lectures on Egyptology and enter into the belly of Khafre pyramid and see the great sphinx.

We will take our lunch at the Blue Lotus Guesthouse, renowned amongst locals for excellent homemade cuisine, where we can rest and smell the lotuses, then take a stroll alongside the fields of Saqqara, the place where the black and red lands of ancient Egypt meet.

After lunch, we’ll visit the extraordinary necropolis at Saqqara. Enter into the mysterious underground galleries of the Serapeum and spend time in heart of the Step Pyramid of Djoser; recently opened to the public after completion of a 50-year renovation project. Afterwards, We’ll return to Mena House for a leisurely dinner then to relax and pack for our flight the following day.

Day 4: Luxor

Luxor: Ancient Thebes

Following breakfast, we’ll depart Mena House and the Giza Plateau to transfer to the airport for a first-class flight to Luxor.

Upon arrival, we will explore the vast temple complex of Karnak.  Dedicated to the creator deity Amun, it was built over the course of two thousand years.  Our visit will include time in the sanctuary of Khonsu, divine child of Amun and Mut, the Theban trinity

Afterwards we will embark our Nile cruise Historia and take our lunch on board and rest a little bit. In the afternoon, we take a walking tour of the magnificent Luxor Temple, which at dusk becomes illuminated to striking effect.  You will then have an opportunity to visit one of the finest showrooms of gold and silver in all of Upper Egypt, before returning to the Boat to take a sumptuous dinner.

Day 5: West Bank

West Bank of the Nile:  Valley of the Kings & Queen Hatshepsut’s mortuary complex

After breakfast, explore the West Bank, land of the setting sun and Amenti, the Hidden Place.  It is here that the ancients communed with the forces beyond the physical realm.  Enter into the tombs of pharaohs in the Valleys of the Kings including the legendary tomb of Tutankhamen, where the young pharaoh’s body is still perfectly preserved and resting. Visit Pharaohess Hatshepsut’s stunning rock-cut mortuary complex with its special sanctuary dedicated to goddess Hathor and the third story terrace sanctuary of Amun with its beautifully preserved painted bas reliefs. Marvel at the ancient colossi of Memnon, massive double stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who reigned during the Eighteenth Dynasty. 

Afterwords, we’ll visit a traditional alabaster workshop before returning to the Boat to take our lunch and rest while we’re sailing to Edfu. Dinner will be on Board.

Day 6: Edfu & Kom Ombo

Edfu & Kom Ombo

Breakfast on board your Nile cruise. Then your tour guide will take you on a mysterious journey to the land of secrets. This guided tour of today begins by visiting one of the most wonderful temples in Egypt, Temple of Horus in Edfu, which is considered to be one of the most well preserved temples in Egypt.

After that, you will revert back to your ship. Lunch will be served on board during sailing to the city of Kom Ombo.

In the afternoon, you will proceed to explore the Temple of Kom Ombo, where the two gods Sobek & Haroeris were worshiped for a while. Get back to your ship and enjoy your lunch. Enjoy the sun deck, watching the unique landscape of the great river Nile. On its banks the ancient Egyptian civilization has been created and flourished.

Dinner will be served on board during sailing to the city of Aswan. Late evening arrival to Aswan overnight.

Day 7: Aswan

The Great City of Aswan

Breakfast will be served on board your ship. Later on, you will join your Egyptologist tour guide to discover the great city of Aswan, including The high Dam , which was erected by the Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1960 AD to protect Egypt from the Nile flood.

After that you will see the unfinished Obelisk, which was made out of red granite and was dedicated to god Amun Ra. Afterwards, we will set out on a short boat ride to the glistening island jewel of Philae for a visit to the Temple of Isis, regarded by many as the most beautiful temple in Egypt. 

After finishing your day tour, you will get back to your ship. Lunch will be served on board. Afternoon tea will be served on board. Dinner on Board.

Day 8: Cairo

After breakfast on Board, visit a traditional papyrus workshop before transferring to the Aswan airport for a first-class flight back to Cairo. 

Upon arrival you will be checked in at Four season Hotel to rest until the evening. In the evening we will enjoy the illuminated ancient Cairo, which was built in 895 A.D and we will take our dinner in Zeeyara restaurant before heading back to the Hotel.

After another lovely breakfast you will be checking out to visit the Egyptian museum, where you will be able to see the amazing artifacts of ancient Egypt, after that you will visit the Islamic Cairo before taking your lunch at a local restaurant in Khan El Khalili Bazaar. In the afternoon you will be brought into Le Meridien Airport to spend the evening there before flying home.
