Mexico City

Ciudad de México is the capital and largest city of Mexico. Located in the Valley of Mexico, it is one of the most populous and culturally vibrant cities in the world. The city's history dates back to pre-Columbian times when it was originally known as Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec Empire. It was founded in 1325 on an island in Lake Texcoco. In 1521, Spanish conquistadors led by Hernán Cortés captured the city and subsequently built colonial structures on top of the Aztec ruins.

Today, Mexico City has an estimated population of over 21 million people in the metropolitan area. The city's population density is one of the highest globally. The city is rich in cultural heritage and offers a wide range of attractions. It is home to numerous museums, art galleries, historical sites, and iconic landmarks. Some of the must-visit places include the Zócalo (main square), National Palace, Metropolitan Cathedral, and Chapultepec Park, which is one of the largest urban parks in the world. Mexican cuisine is world-renowned, and Mexico City is a gastronomic delight with a vast array of traditional dishes and street food offerings.
